“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Cry out, ‘Save us, God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.’ Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Then all the people said ‘Amen’ and ‘Praise the Lord.’” (I Chronicles 16:34-36)
This is the first even in the Bible where three things happened and were recorded in worship. It is the return of the Ark of the Covenant to the City of David. The three things are:
1. Music
2. Singing
3. Thanksgiving
David may have been the bravest man in the history of the World. He may have been the greatest general in History. He may have been the greatest musician and the greatest poet, and he was a man after God’s own heart. We see David making music earlier in I Samuel 16:18 and in vs. 23. Look for thanksgiving in the Psalms and in Paul’s letters.
