“On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria. Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went” (Acts 8:1, 4) All —this meant thousands of people—everyone except the apostles, the sent ones. Everyone was gossiping, testifying about the good news. This is how world evangelism happens. At different times, I have asked groups of people how they received Christ. The answers were multiple choice: a) mass evangelism, b) radio or television, c) reading the Bible, d) reading a book or tract, e) church, f) camp, or g) someone who loved them and told them the good news . The first 6 get less than 5% each; the last one is always about 70-80%. Remember, the people who evidently need the gospel are the unloved and consequently unlovely. Are you willing to love them and tell them the good news? This post coordinates with tomorrow's reading in the To the Word! Bible R...
Jeremiah 17:7-8: "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her ROOTS BY THE RIVER, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."
