“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
All fear is an anticipation of something negative we think will take place in the future. It is not only future, it is also based on a lie. In other words, this negative thing will not take place in the future.

Thank you very much for your blog. I read it regularly.
Can you expand on your thoughts of 9/4/07 regarding your statement that the negative thing we fear will not happen? I've been reading The One Year Book of Christian History this year, and some very sobering things have happened to Christians. Reading Revelation shows us that even more horrible things are yet to come. I understand from reading the history book that God provides strength and peace in the midst of the scary trial. This helps me to let not my heart be troubled about persecutions that are coming; however, they are still fearsome events that will be painful. How can we say that the negative thing will not take place? We know that negative things can and do take place all the time. I think I'm probably missing your point. Could you give more light on it?
Thank you.
